How can the American Bluegrass meet the oriental meditative music or the Funk of the 70’s? How do a 5-string banjo, a mandolin and a bass come into contact with the Irish folk and African rhythms…. flirt with the Rock or even the Baroque music?

Three Belgian musicians propose a few answers. In 2012, a first album selftitled ‘LOUVAT Bros’ wins the ‘Liz Meyer Award’ rewarding the European most innovative band on the Bluegrass scene. In 2014, Acoustic Music Records, a prevailing German recording label for acoustic music in Europe, produces the second one: ‘Contrastes’, a title perfectly reflecting the music: consistent and contrasting.

Back in 2010 the LOUVAT brothers, Steve (5-string banjo, finger-style guitar) and Jefferson (American mandolin, mandola) playing together since their childhood, invite Michel Vrydag (bass) to take up a challenge: to build a repertoire gathering their musical influences from around the world (Bluegrass, Irish, Klezmer, Blues, Baroque music, Jazz, Rock..) and to play it with delicacy, eagerness and enthusiasm.
The will of the LOUVAT Bros to bring a fresh and new breath on the acoustic scene combined to the uncommon instrumentation of the trio allow them to travel around the world.

So far the band has performed in Europe (Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, France,The Nederlands, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Czech Republic…), as well as in Canada (Quebec) and in the United States ( 4 times at the International Bluegrass Festival of Oklahoma, IBMA showcase in Louisville, Kentucky to name a few…)

Do not miss under no circumstances !
“LOUVAT Bros, sparkling tone that rocks!”
